How to Style a Console Table That Pops in Photos

To style a console for photos, use a simple formula: group items in threes at varied heights (tall, medium, low), add something living like a plant or flowers, and always leave about half the surface empty. Do not fill the whole top; the negative space is what reads as premium.
The rule of three heights
The eye likes odd numbers. Try three groups: a tall vase on one side, a stack of books with a low lamp in the middle, and a box or tray in front, forming a triangular sightline.
Style for the camera, not just the eye
What looks fine in person can look cluttered on camera. Shoot a test frame and adjust.
- Shoot at table-eye level, not from above
- Remove cables and remotes from the frame
- Hang a mirror or art above to add height to the shot
- One stem of fresh flowers or greenery brings the frame alive
How many items belong on a console?
Three to five items in two or three groups is ideal. More starts to look cluttered. Always leave open space.
